Gravestone: In memoriam, rev. Henry Harmon Spalding 1803-1874 and his wife Eliza Hart Spalding 1807-1851. Pioneers, Missionaries, founders of industry, education, religion and Christian citizenship among the Nez Perces Indians. Themselves their greatest monument. Together with the Whitmans. W.H. Gray and others they crossed the plains in 1836 and organized Wai Il Lat Pu Church, the oldest Presbyterian church on the Pacific coast.
